Bohemian Barranco Gem | Casa Republica Boutique Hotel

Casa República Private Library

Bohemian Barranco is a one of Lima’s most prominent art districts. Full of vibrancy, Barranco melds classical Spanish culture with a free-spirit oceanfront personality. Stroll down one of this neighborhood’s most sought after streets, and just beyond the trees of a flower-filled park lined with cafés and art galleries lies Casa República. This quaint boutique hotel sits nestled between two colonial casonas. Enter it’s white gates and find yourself amongst ornate crown moulding, a brilliant golden chandelier, and two grand staircases waiting to guide it’s guests to their rooms. Grab a chilcano with lime and head to the rooftop for a welcoming view, or find yourself lounging around the hotel’s garden. If you’re up for an adventure, bikes are available to take in the sights and sounds.

Stepping off the plane after a long flight and into the foyer of Casa República we were immediately greeted by friendly staff and struck by the grandiose nature of the space we entered. Our gorgeously styled room and incredibly attentive staff made us feel as if we were kings within minutes of our stay. As for the bathroom? Well, the images speak for themselves.

Whether you are heading to the beach, trying all kinds of Peruvian cuisine, or discovering the district’s nightlife, Casa República’s friendly service and exquisite finishes provides the perfect sanctuary for anyone out to experience the best Barranco has to offer.

I can’t forget to mention how we found this Barranco gem. Our wonderful friends at Lima Tours helped organize our entire stay, starting our adventure with an immersive art experience for our first days in Lima. I am beyond grateful for this serendipitous discovery of now one of my favorite boutique hotels.

Frolicking around Barranco you will find giant artful murals, elegant mansions, and sweeping vistas overlooking Lima’s Malecon. The district features an eccentric and vibrant nightlife. It is largely LGBTQ friendly and contains some of the best restaurants Lima has to offer. A trip to the Peruvian Capitol is not complete without a journey to this breathe-taking district, and made complete with a stay at Casa República.
